Welcome to the mesmerizing marketing

podcast, where we take a deep dive

2

:

into the latest marketing trends,

tools, and tips, and provide you with

3

:

the top resources you need to thrive

and make your marketing mesmerizing.

4

:

And now here's your host Dimple Dang.

5

:

Hello, and welcome back to mesmerizing

marketing podcast and today's episode.

6

:

We're going to be unpacking the

chain of events from the riveting

7

:

Sam Altman story from Silicon valley.

8

:

The rollercoaster journey of opening.

9

:

I found her Sam Altman from his

firing to a dramatic rehiring.

10

:

The story is not just about corporate

maneuvers, but it's also a narrative

11

:

that inter wines, the future of AI.

12

:

Also ethics and the power

dynamics and the tech world.

13

:

So let's unpack this soap opera.

14

:

So imagine this a regular Friday

and the tech world suddenly turns

15

:

extra ordinary with the news of

Sam Altman's firing from open AI.

16

:

Even me, I had to do a

double-take on Twitter.

17

:

I was like, oh, No, no, no.

18

:

Sam Altman is a pivotal

figure in the AI landscape.

19

:

He was dismissed under some

very mysterious circumstances.

20

:

, they just said that.

21

:

They didn't like the way that

he was handling certain things.

22

:

And that really left the whole tech

community buzzing with speculation.

23

:

And to me personally, I think

that sounds a little ruthless.

24

:

And it was quite mysterious.

25

:

I mean, after all, he's the

one who built up the company.

26

:

He's . The mastermind behind

everything and the board comes in

27

:

and they decide to just let them go.

28

:

And I don't know what kind of brilliant

plan they had that they thought

29

:

that OpenAI would actually do well

without them around and just bringing

30

:

someone new in and it's at a time when

they also launched their brand new

31

:

features to me, I was like, oh, this

is not good because now they launched

32

:

the ability to make custom GPTs.

33

:

But if opening eyes down,

then what are we going to do?

34

:

Like last night I was on it.

35

:

Cause I was trying to use

Dolly to create some AI images.

36

:

And it was down for like at least

two hours, maybe more it was down.

37

:

And that is not good because imagine if

you did create a custom GP team, And.

38

:

Opening eyes down.

39

:

Well, the GPT isn't going to

work either, so that doesn't

40

:

give someone comfort in that.

41

:

You know, if opening, I can't.

42

:

Keep everything running smoothly.

43

:

24 7.

44

:

Yes.

45

:

Things happen.

46

:

But I would just say that.

47

:

, when the waters are a little

bit tumultuous, like it's

48

:

really, things aren't going to

go the way they're supposed to.

49

:

And that was really an example

of that yesterday night.

50

:

So let's get back to the story.

51

:

So this was only really

just like the opening act.

52

:

So what happened is, and an

astonishing twist open AI announced

53

:

just days later that they reached an

agreement to reinstate Altman as CEO.

54

:

And this decision followed a nearly

unanimous outcry from opening ice team

55

:

and staff who showed their unwavering

support for Sam Altman and they even

56

:

threatened to resign and massive.

57

:

and literally just walk out.

58

:

And I think that that shows you, there's

like a big lesson there to me learn.

59

:

I think that tells you how much

respect they have for their leader.

60

:

And how influential that

Sam Altman really is.

61

:

And, you know, he had to

have treated his team.

62

:

And his staff, well, for them to

respect him, because if he didn't, I

63

:

don't think they would really care.

64

:

There'd be like, oh good.

65

:

The wicked witch of the west is

gone, but that wasn't the case.

66

:

There should be a lesson for

every leaders that you build.

67

:

, such a loyal following from your

team and your staff and from

68

:

leadership and from everyone.

69

:

That they're not going to let you go.

70

:

The other important lesson to learn.

71

:

And this is to that, you know,

Sam Altman really has built up.

72

:

A phenomenal personal brand.

73

:

Had he not done that?

74

:

He wouldn't have offers

like he was snagged up over

75

:

the weekend from Microsoft.

76

:

Literally fired on Friday

and I think of a Saturday.

77

:

And whatever he's like, okay, well now

I'm going to go work for Microsoft.

78

:

And that doesn't come just magically

that comes from doing the little things

79

:

every day and building your brand.

80

:

Really just putting yourself

out there where you are.

81

:

Presenting yourself, you know, with

credibility as a thought leader.

82

:

And you're really just,

you know, continuing to put

83

:

yourself out there in the world.

84

:

So I think those are some

of the big takeaways for me.

85

:

And then the other thing.

86

:

Is.

87

:

So what happened then is

after everyone decided that,

88

:

Hey, they're going to resign.

89

:

Well, the plot thickened because

Microsoft got involved and Microsoft

90

:

is opening eyes, largest investor,

and they do have a significant

91

:

stake in all the events that happen.

92

:

Amongst all of this upheaval,

they announced that Altman and

93

:

open AI co-founder Greg Brockman.

94

:

We're going to join them to lead a

new AI research division at Microsoft.

95

:

And this move underscored the intricate

relationship between open AI and

96

:

Microsoft, and it really highlighted.

97

:

The deep investment in the future of

AI that Microsoft has with open AI.

98

:

So now let's talk about

the boardroom drama.

99

:

So the shakeup at opening eyes

board was nothing short of dramatic.

100

:

I mean, this is like soap opera,

Housewives of orange county.

101

:

Beverly Hills, all that kind of thing.

102

:

This is something that I'm pretty sure

they can make a TV Netflix series about

103

:

this occurrence of events, because

right now all the truth is not even out.

104

:

There's going to be an investigation

done to see why exactly the

105

:

board of open AI decided to get.

106

:

Sam Altman out, like, what is

it that they're saying that

107

:

he did, that was so wrong?

108

:

So basically, you know, the board members,

that pushed Sam Altman out, they consisted

109

:

of Tasha McCauley, Helen toner, ILA.

110

:

So takeover.

111

:

If I'm saying the name right.

112

:

So now basically what's interesting is.

113

:

They pushed him out.

114

:

But now they got pushed out.

115

:

So it's really fascinating how this all

panned out because that's unexpected and

116

:

that doesn't really happen every day.

117

:

But again, this all ties

back to the Testament of what

118

:

a powerful leader that's.

119

:

, Altman is.

120

:

And, he's made himself in valuable,

which is what you want to do as a leader.

121

:

You want to make yourself invaluable.

122

:

This tells me that his team admired

him, that they had a tremendous

123

:

amount of respect for him.

124

:

And when the entire open

AI team threatens to quit.

125

:

If Sam Altman is not reinstated.

126

:

That really tells you

a lot about a leader.

127

:

So I'm going to let you guys think

about leadership in terms of that.

128

:

Personally.

129

:

I'm so relieved that things turn out the

way that they did because without Sam

130

:

ultimate leading the way, my confidence

and open AI was slowly diminishing.

131

:

And I was concerned that there

might be a lot of tech issues.

132

:

I might be down.

133

:

And that I actually did

experience yesterday.

134

:

Early evening.

135

:

And it was down for a few

hours and I was like, okay, I

136

:

knew this was going to happen.

137

:

I was just hoping that it wouldn't happen.

138

:

So I'm really excited that

things are all back in order.

139

:

And Sam Altman is back at open AI.

140

:

Because firstly, I love using open AI

technology and platforms like chatty.

141

:

CBT.

142

:

And then with the recent new feature to be

able to create custom GPTs, I'm so excited

143

:

because I'm actually going to be offering,

creating custom GPTs to my clients.

144

:

I've created, a couple of them for myself

and I'm going to create even more because

145

:

I really want to streamline the workflow

process, that I do for myself or.

146

:

You know, for my own marketing,

for my clients, marketing.

147

:

And just have things where they

can function the way that I want.

148

:

So one of the GBTs that I

created for myself, it's called.

149

:

Dimples content genius.

150

:

And that one is available just for me.

151

:

Cause that's for my personal

workflow, it's not for the public.

152

:

But when GPT is, you can

create them for the public.

153

:

And there's going to be a store coming out

soon where all of the GPTs will be there

154

:

and you can even monetize if you're GPT.

155

:

You know, it gets a lot of traffic and

is used and downloaded and so forth.

156

:

. And then I also created another one.

157

:

Four.

158

:

Personal injury lawyers called personal

injury case analysis, because I know

159

:

that behind the scenes, cause I work

with lawyers, they do their marketing.

160

:

That there are so much involved

that they have to do in the backend.

161

:

And there's so many documents and

paperwork and research that goes into

162

:

working on a case that I created something

called personal injury case analysis.

163

:

So if you need a custom GPT created for

your firm or business, reach out to me.

164

:

My contact information is

in the show notes below.

165

:

Also let's discuss what

happens next at open AI.

166

:

So.

167

:

, and the place of the old

board that I mentioned.

168

:

The interim board was

formulated and that board.

169

:

Led by Brett Taylor and it actually

featured prominent figures like

170

:

Larry Summers and Adam de Angelo.

171

:

So this reshuffling of the board

really signaled a strategic pivot

172

:

towards more aggressive AI development.

173

:

And commercialization, reflecting a

change in the company's direction.

174

:

And now this brings us to

the heart of the matter.

175

:

The delicate balance between innovation

and ethical considerations in AI.

176

:

Altman himself, he's been very vocal,

in terms of being an advocate for

177

:

caution and then also highlighting.

178

:

You know, the potential risk of AI

179

:

as Altman.

180

:

Resumed his role at open AI, the company

stands at a really important, critical

181

:

point where the board that's going

to be more aligned with his vision.

182

:

And a strengthened

partnership with Microsoft.

183

:

Now, open AI.

184

:

, really positioned itself to

continue . Trail blazing.

185

:

The path in the AI industry.

186

:

But the path is still paved

when challenges and ethical

187

:

dilemmas, which is normal.

188

:

How is open AI going to navigate the tight

rope between pushing the boundaries of AI?

189

:

Yet ensuring that it is used responsibly.

190

:

Well, that question is a very important

question, but we're just going to

191

:

have to watch and see how the soap

opera unfold, as far as that goes.
