Welcome to the Mesmerizing Marketing Podcast, where we take a deep dive

Speaker:

into the latest marketing trends, tools, and tips, and provide you with

Speaker:

the top resources you need to thrive and make your marketing mesmerizing.

Speaker:

And now here's your host Dimple.

Speaker:

Dang.

Speaker:

Hello, my mesmerizing marketing tribe.

Speaker:

Today I'm gonna be talking about how to build a mesmerizing personal brand.

Speaker:

And you know, I've talked about this a little bit in my clubhouse

Speaker:

rooms, but people always ask me this question simple, Is it better to build

Speaker:

my business brand or my personal?

Speaker:

And I always say it's better to start with your personal brand.

Speaker:

So I'm gonna go into a little more details about why it's better to build a personal

Speaker:

brand and why it's more important.

Speaker:

First of all, when you build your personal brand, it automatically helps

Speaker:

elevate your business brand because think about it, you are the face of your.

Speaker:

Right, And people are going to work with people they know, like, and trust.

Speaker:

And in order to build that, no, like and trust factor, you have to be

Speaker:

able to be seen online, on social media and all over the internet.

Speaker:

when people get to hear your voice, when people get to see you

Speaker:

on video, they have the ability.

Speaker:

To really become a loyal fan, they have the ability to be mesmerized by you.

Speaker:

So I always say personal brand for many reasons.

Speaker:

Another reason is that a personal brand is like an insurance policy.

Speaker:

Even if you work for corporate America or a large firm or you know you're

Speaker:

not an entrepreneur, what it does is it gives you insurance instead of.

Speaker:

You seeking opportunities, if you were to get laid off, opportunities will

Speaker:

come to you because you're already putting yourself out there as the

Speaker:

specialist in your niche, right?

Speaker:

And people can see that, okay, you really know a lot of information

Speaker:

about Instagram or you know, a lot of information about family law, whatever

Speaker:

it happens to be, right, that you do.

Speaker:

But that's one of the reasons why.

Speaker:

The other reason is that you know, what worked a few years

Speaker:

ago, is not gonna work anymore.

Speaker:

Times have changed.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So there's a time when a lot of business owners and professionals,

Speaker:

they relied on just referrals and they've built pretty sustainable

Speaker:

businesses based off of referrals.

Speaker:

But times have changed since the pandemic happened.

Speaker:

And if you think about.

Speaker:

we were asked to stay at home.

Speaker:

We couldn't go anywhere.

Speaker:

We couldn't travel, we couldn't go to conferences.

Speaker:

We couldn't host our own events, you know, for, for a long time.

Speaker:

And now, yes, the world is open, but the thing is, it's never gonna be the same.

Speaker:

And the way people do business has also changed.

Speaker:

In the past, people would do a lot of business in person.

Speaker:

They would drive and spend hours in traffic just to go meet someone.

Speaker:

And now they may do that sometimes, but in order to.

Speaker:

Make better use of their time.

Speaker:

What they're gonna do is they're gonna say, Hey, let's just meet over Zoom.

Speaker:

, right?

Speaker:

And then they've saved themselves an extra hour and a half

Speaker:

in their day in a big city.

Speaker:

If they live in like Los Angeles or Chicago or you know, Houston, any big

Speaker:

city where traffic is so bad, they've saved themselves an extra hour and a half.

Speaker:

That's time back for their day to spend with their family, to work on

Speaker:

their own business are to go work out.

Speaker:

And that's a great thing.

Speaker:

So when it comes to your personal.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

People are becoming more discerning now with who they wanna work

Speaker:

with and how they choose who they're going to do business with.

Speaker:

And they're doing their research.

Speaker:

They're looking to see if you really know what you're talking

Speaker:

about or you just making it up.

Speaker:

And the best way to really showcase yourself as.

Speaker:

Professional that you are in your niche, that you are better than

Speaker:

some of your competition, is that you have to put yourself out there.

Speaker:

And here's one more thing I wanna talk about, cuz I know a lot of people are

Speaker:

scared to put themselves out there.

Speaker:

I have talked to a lot of clients, they're scared to be on camera, they're

Speaker:

scared to have a podcast cuz they don't like their voice or the way they.

Speaker:

and those are all self-limiting beliefs.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

And your self-limiting beliefs will hold you back from true success.

Speaker:

And the reason I'm starting to talk about this now is that 2023 is around

Speaker:

the corner and most people are not gonna think about 2023 until December 31st.

Speaker:

But I am starting to think about 2023 now, and I'm starting to evaluate

Speaker:

what my goals are for next year.

Speaker:

And I'm also.

Speaker:

Training my clients to start thinking about that now so that they can have a

Speaker:

very dialed in marketing strategy that they've developed and they've worked on

Speaker:

for the next couple of months, so that when January rolls around, They're ready

Speaker:

to implement, they're ready to go forward.

Speaker:

They're ready to really make a difference in terms of showing up, right?

Speaker:

Showing up online, showing up on the internet, showing up on YouTube,

Speaker:

showing up on their podcast.

Speaker:

It's a matter of making that commitment to picking one or two platforms or one or

Speaker:

two things that you're excited about that you can commit to doing and doing those.

Speaker:

So if you're listening to this episode, I hope that it, inspires

Speaker:

someone to go out there and make a commitment to get back on TikTok.

Speaker:

If, let's say you've been slacking for a while, you got really busy

Speaker:

and you just got out of the habit of doing it right, it's a habit.

Speaker:

I'm gonna tell you right now while you're listening to my show, to go pull out

Speaker:

your calendar and make an appointment with yourself for content creation day

Speaker:

where you're gonna create content for.

Speaker:

Or for any other channel that you want, but put it on your calendar.

Speaker:

When you put it on your calendar, it's a commitment to yourself.

Speaker:

Just like you would not cancel a meeting with a client, you should not cancel this

Speaker:

meeting with yourself to create content and if you do that week after week after.

Speaker:

and you don't give that spot away to a potential meeting or client because, oh,

Speaker:

that's the only time they can meet because then your content is never gonna get done.

Speaker:

And your business is not going to be growing.

Speaker:

In order to grow your business, you have to be able to put yourself out there

Speaker:

and you have to work on your marketing.

Speaker:

Whether you're paying someone to handle your marketing, whether you're

Speaker:

doing it yourself, you have to commit.

Speaker:

To investing a little bit of your time into it, because even if you're working

Speaker:

with someone, they're gonna ask you for information that they need to create

Speaker:

what they're gonna create for you.

Speaker:

And if you're doing it yourself, then you have to be committed to working on it.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So when it comes to building a personal brand, there are a couple

Speaker:

of different ways to do that.

Speaker:

One of my favorite ways to build a personal brand is through podcasting.

Speaker:

And the reason I say that is when you have a podcast, you are getting not

Speaker:

just reach within your own country, you're getting reached globally.

Speaker:

And if you can become known globally, , that's actually very powerful.

Speaker:

That gives you credibility, and it doesn't matter if you're a local business or

Speaker:

you only, you know, practice law in in a certain city or state or whatever.

Speaker:

What matters is that your popularity goes up.

Speaker:

More people know about you.

Speaker:

They may have connections.

Speaker:

With other people in your city, and as a result down the road, that

Speaker:

may get you more referrals, right?

Speaker:

So you have to think about it that way.

Speaker:

And when it comes to a podcast, I would say start with your why.

Speaker:

Your why is the biggest thing, because that's gonna propel you to

Speaker:

keep going when you're exhausted.

Speaker:

And that's going to be the reason to have your show because You

Speaker:

really wanna make your why so powerful that it keeps you going.

Speaker:

When you feel a little exhausted, you remind yourself of your why.

Speaker:

Then you can keep going because no matter what you're working on, whether

Speaker:

it's a TikTok channel, whether it's podcasting, whether it's YouTube,

Speaker:

it takes a certain amount of effort and commitment, and sometimes it can

Speaker:

get exhausting and that's okay, but you just have to take a deep breath.

Speaker:

Think of your why and you have to start over again.

Speaker:

So going back to podcasting, the other great thing about podcasting

Speaker:

is, is your opportunity to show your expertise in your niche.

Speaker:

When people get to listen to you and they hear how knowledgeable you are in what it

Speaker:

is that you do, and then they're comparing you with other people, with other vendors

Speaker:

that they're thinking of working with.

Speaker:

Like it's a slam dunk.

Speaker:

You're gonna end up closing that business.

Speaker:

And basically, that's why I call it like an insurance policy.

Speaker:

A personal brand is like an insurance policy cuz it's gonna

Speaker:

help you close that business.

Speaker:

With a podcast, it's also an opportunity for you to promote your services

Speaker:

and to promote your community.

Speaker:

Maybe you have a private membership.

Speaker:

You want people to join because you can put anything in your podcast that

Speaker:

you want, and now there's even the ability to add your own ads in there.

Speaker:

But even in the intro or the outro, you can have a call to action.

Speaker:

And podcasting is great for that reason.

Speaker:

It's also great cuz when you have your own show, you're gonna have other people

Speaker:

reach out to you and they're gonna start asking you to be on their show.

Speaker:

And what that is doing is that's going to expand your audience to a lot more people.

Speaker:

And that's a really, really great thing.

Speaker:

That's a powerful thing.

Speaker:

So when you have a podcast, it ranks on Google.

Speaker:

In multiple different, platforms and networks and if you're strategic with

Speaker:

how you are creating your show, how you're creating each episode, how you're

Speaker:

titling it, you can take advantage of getting free traffic by having those

Speaker:

episodes rank high on Google on page one.

Speaker:

That's what I've done.

Speaker:

That's what I've done for my clients because I help them launch their shows.

Speaker:

We do the entire production for them.

Speaker:

They literally just show up and, you know, we hit the record button and that's

Speaker:

a done for you where they don't have the time to do it all themselves, but

Speaker:

they're willing to make the investment to pay someone else to handle it.

Speaker:

But they wanna have that visibility in the marketplace.

Speaker:

And it does give you that visibility.

Speaker:

And podcasting has become very popular.

Speaker:

When people are now driving in their cars, they're listening to

Speaker:

more and more podcasts instead of just listening to normal music.

Speaker:

When they are at home, they're listening to podcasts as well, and

Speaker:

it's just increased in popularity throughout the years, and it's

Speaker:

going to continue to increase.

Speaker:

So consider launching your own show.

Speaker:

And don't have a show that talks about everything.

Speaker:

Make it niche according to what it is that's relatable to your business,

Speaker:

to what you do, and that's how your show's gonna be successful.

Speaker:

And if you are interested in launching your own show, I actually host these

Speaker:

launcher podcast master classes.

Speaker:

I'm having one coming up on October 22nd, and then I might do another one this year.

Speaker:

Not sure, possibly, but if you're interested in joining that, it's a

Speaker:

live three hour class where we go through the entire process of setting

Speaker:

up your show from beginning to end.

Speaker:

Everything you need to know, including.

Speaker:

how you can monetize your show, how you can get gased, how do you interview,

Speaker:

how do you pick the name, how do you do the cover, how do you do the editing?

Speaker:

Everything you need to know.

Speaker:

So the link is gonna be in the show notes to get more details on that or to sign up.

Speaker:

And you can always send me email as well.

Speaker:

My email is in the show notes if you have questions.

Speaker:

So podcasting is one way to build your personal brand.

Speaker:

The other way to build your personal brand is to be on social.

Speaker:

And the hottest thing on social media right now are TikTok reels

Speaker:

and Instagram reels, and TikTok has really exploded in the past few years.

Speaker:

There's a time when everyone thought it was a platform for young kids just

Speaker:

dancing around, and it has changed.

Speaker:

It is no longer just that platform.

Speaker:

So if that's the impression that you're under, I encourage you

Speaker:

to go to TikTok, type in a key word that's relevant to your.

Speaker:

And go check it out, because now I'm seeing people of all ages that

Speaker:

are creating content on TikTok.

Speaker:

I'm seeing a lot of educational content that is presented in a

Speaker:

fun, entertaining way, and that content I call entertainment.

Speaker:

It does really, really well and TikTok is a great way to promote.

Speaker:

Your product, your services, to build your following, to build a community, to sell

Speaker:

affiliate programs or anything like that.

Speaker:

So, if you're not currently using TikTok, go and study it first.

Speaker:

Go and see what other people are doing, See what's working, see how they're

Speaker:

creating their content, and then if it's something that you are gonna commit to

Speaker:

doing, then like I said, put it on your calendar and start creating content.

Speaker:

And be the face of the content.

Speaker:

Do not hide behind.

Speaker:

Well, I don't wanna show my face.

Speaker:

And yes, you can make talks without showing your face, but I'm just

Speaker:

saying don't hold back because of fear, is what I'm saying.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Just don't let fear hold you back.

Speaker:

If you're gonna do something like go all in and do it with a little

Speaker:

bit of fear, and that's fine.

Speaker:

And then when you do it with fear, every time you do.

Speaker:

Again and again, you're gonna have less fear.

Speaker:

Okay?

Speaker:

And, and , that's the way that you're gonna do that.

Speaker:

The other thing that you can do is you can take advantage

Speaker:

of the power of press releases.

Speaker:

And press releases are amazing for a couple of reasons.

Speaker:

one is that you can get a powerful, authoritative.

Speaker:

From a press release back to your website, and that's really, really good for seo,

Speaker:

which is search engine optimization, which helps your website rank higher on Google.

Speaker:

And the other thing is that you have the ability to have that press release

Speaker:

written in a way strategically for SEO so that it ranks high for, you know,

Speaker:

keyword that you want to come up.

Speaker:

And it also is something that, you know, shows okay, you're doing this or

Speaker:

you've launched something new and you wanna put it out there to the world.

Speaker:

Or maybe you have brought on more team members, whatever it happens to be, right?

Speaker:

But it can also get picked up by the media.

Speaker:

And if you happen to get picked up by the media, , that's priceless, right?

Speaker:

You can't put a price on if someone wants to interview you to be on the

Speaker:

news or they wanna quote you in a couple of publications, that is huge.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

The other way though.

Speaker:

You can get publicity if you don't want to do press releases.

Speaker:

I recommend doing press releases quarterly.

Speaker:

Like when I have set them up for my clients, like we have done

Speaker:

them quarterly because, every quarter that's like three months.

Speaker:

Like there's gonna be new things to talk about in report.

Speaker:

And you can also go to this website called Harrow, h a r o, and

Speaker:

You can create an account and you can create alerts based on what type of

Speaker:

content reporters are looking for.

Speaker:

But you do have to be really quick in responding, so you should have a

Speaker:

couple of things prepared to send.

Speaker:

In order to get those out because the people that respond the

Speaker:

fastest are usually the ones that are getting these opportunities.

Speaker:

And you wanna just have a really good paragraph or two prepared, and you want

Speaker:

to be careful to listen to what their requirements are, cuz they're gonna say,

Speaker:

We need you to answer these questions, or we need you to, you know, talk about this.

Speaker:

And you need to be prepared to really customize your answer based on what they.

Speaker:

So that's a great.

Speaker:

The other way to build your personal brand is through having your own

Speaker:

YouTube channel, and I know that a lot of people have probably thought

Speaker:

about having a YouTube channel, but for whatever reason, they haven't done it

Speaker:

or they just haven't gotten to it yet.

Speaker:

And even though YouTube seems like a lot of work, I think most of the

Speaker:

work is really in the editing part of it, which you can outsource

Speaker:

to, you know, to someone else.

Speaker:

But as far as like, you know, making YouTube videos, you don't even have to

Speaker:

have a big, fancy, expensive camera.

Speaker:

If you have an iPhone 13, you can make amazing high quality video.

Speaker:

With your iPhone, with a tripod and your iPhone, and you can

Speaker:

literally have great videos.

Speaker:

And in the show notes, I'm actually gonna put a.

Speaker:

To my recommended equipment because there's also a microphone that

Speaker:

I got from Amazon that I love, and it's literally wireless.

Speaker:

So basically you can plug it into your phone and you can clip the other part

Speaker:

onto your outfit and there's no wires.

Speaker:

And the sound quality is amazing because when you're gonna do

Speaker:

YouTube, you wanna have great audio.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And with that microphone you can even move around.

Speaker:

If you're creating like tos or you're in the kitchen, you're demonstrating,

Speaker:

Hey, this is my favorite recipe.

Speaker:

So absolutely love it.

Speaker:

And also, I'll put some resources in there for some other things if like,

Speaker:

, you wanna launch your own podcast?

Speaker:

What kind of equipment you can get all that.

Speaker:

So make sure you check out the show notes.

Speaker:

And then with YouTube, the key is this.

Speaker:

The key is to come up with a strategy before you just

Speaker:

start making random videos.

Speaker:

So coming up with a strategy means that you need to sit down and decide

Speaker:

what topics you're going to talk about.

Speaker:

And you can do this a couple of different ways.

Speaker:

You can do this by researching.

Speaker:

People that are doing things similar to you or you know, your competitors

Speaker:

and you can see who's doing really well, who has a lot of video views,

Speaker:

which of their videos have done well and what do they talk about?

Speaker:

Then make an Excel spreadsheet and write the names of exactly, well,

Speaker:

how do they name those videos?

Speaker:

How many views did that particular video have?

Speaker:

How many minutes was it?

Speaker:

Because I want you to really study what other people are doing.

Speaker:

and take information from that, that's going to help your channel grow faster.

Speaker:

The other way to grow on YouTube is to have something where you

Speaker:

are creating a series of videos that are all around one topic.

Speaker:

So for example, if I did a series all about, Instagram or podcasting,

Speaker:

I could have four videos that are about Instagram, but maybe there are

Speaker:

about four different components of I.

Speaker:

Or four different components about podcasting and I can have a part one and

Speaker:

then part two, part three, part four.

Speaker:

Well, it does, It can be parts, but it doesn't even have to be.

Speaker:

It just basically, Okay, this is in this series, and what happens is when they

Speaker:

watch the first one, if you have three more in the editing on the back end of

Speaker:

the YouTube editor, you can put the.

Speaker:

To show the next one in the series and the next one, and what happens is you end

Speaker:

up getting more watch time, and that's going to actually trigger the algorithm

Speaker:

to show your videos to more people.

Speaker:

The other thing with YouTube that you can do is you can study to see the

Speaker:

titles that have done really well.

Speaker:

And you can make your video with the same title and use some of the same hashtags.

Speaker:

And what's gonna happen is after someone has watched their video with that title,

Speaker:

because your video has a similar title and it's similar content, YouTube always

Speaker:

says, Oh, see, similar, recommended video.

Speaker:

And then it's gonna show your content as well.

Speaker:

So that's a great way to increase the views that you

Speaker:

get on your YouTube channel.

Speaker:

And when you're on YouTube, what you could do, because I know it's a little

Speaker:

bit of a task to get ready for YouTube, and especially if we're females, like

Speaker:

fixing your hair, make up all that.

Speaker:

But if you wanna work smarter, what I would say is create

Speaker:

your content for YouTube.

Speaker:

Film it where you're not super zoomed in, you're like, you know,

Speaker:

there's a little bit of room so that if you wanted to edit the video and

Speaker:

make it the right dimensions for.

Speaker:

Like TikTok reels or Instagram reels, what you can do is you can repurpose

Speaker:

that one video, let's say like a, you know, seven minute video and you can

Speaker:

also make two or three reels out of it.

Speaker:

So now you're not having to produce double or triple the content.

Speaker:

You're producing the content once and you can repurpose it I guarantee

Speaker:

that's gonna save you a lot of time.

Speaker:

But going back to the whole building a mesmerizing personal brand, you

Speaker:

have to put yourself out there.

Speaker:

People have to be able to hear you.

Speaker:

They have to be able to see you, right?

Speaker:

So if you are creating content, think about what kind of platform.

Speaker:

That you feel comfortable creating content on, or that you're willing

Speaker:

to invest your time to work on that, to learn it, Whether it's, you know,

Speaker:

creating content for TikTok, whether it's launching a podcast, whether it's

Speaker:

YouTube, whether it's like working on press releases and creating content for

Speaker:

your website, whatever it happens to be.

Speaker:

But pick one or two strategies that you're gonna go all.

Speaker:

For 2023 and start learning how to do those things now.

Speaker:

Start preparing right now to get, your strategy together.

Speaker:

And if you need help with your marketing strategy for next

Speaker:

year, then reach out to me.

Speaker:

Go to the show notes.

Speaker:

You can fill out a form.

Speaker:

I do offer a free consultation and I'd be happy to help you put together

Speaker:

an effective strategy for next year.

Speaker:

Or if you feel like you've gotten off track and you know,

Speaker:

you've just gotten so busy.

Speaker:

Didn't focus on your marketing and you need to get back into it.

Speaker:

You need some accountability.

Speaker:

I can help you with that as well, but I do wanna reiterate the importance

Speaker:

of building your personal brand.

Speaker:

It's going to automatically help build your business brand, and it's also

Speaker:

going to give you more credibility.

Speaker:

When you have more credibility.

Speaker:

It's gonna increase your income, it's gonna increase the percent, your close

Speaker:

rate of potential clients that come to you that are going to end up signing up with.

Speaker:

And this is for any industry.

Speaker:

It doesn't even matter what you do, it's just the way that it works.

Speaker:

So consider doing any of those things, but just commit to building your

Speaker:

personal brand and focus on that before you focus on your company brand.

Speaker:

Because even if you look at people like Elon Musk, right?

Speaker:

He has built a very, very powerful personal brand, right?

Speaker:

Like if you look and see how many followers he has versus Tesla,

Speaker:

there's gonna be no comparison, right?

Speaker:

But he is the brand, and you are the same for your industry, for

Speaker:

your company, for your business.

Speaker:

So I hope that this episode has inspired you to go out there and commit to

Speaker:

launching your podcast, getting back to TikTok, or creating a new TikTok channel.
