Welcome to the Mesmerizing Marketing Podcast, where we take a deep dive

Speaker:

into the latest marketing trends, tools, and tips, and provide you with

Speaker:

the top resources you need to thrive and make your marketing mesmerizing.

Speaker:

And now here's your host Dimple.

Speaker:

Dang.

Speaker:

Welcome back, my Mesmerizing Marketing Tribe.

Speaker:

Today I'm gonna be talking about how to launch your own online

Speaker:

course in less than two weeks.

Speaker:

And I know you've been thinking about having a course, you've been

Speaker:

thinking about doing that thing.

Speaker:

However, you might not know how to quite get started.

Speaker:

There's so many different things that are involved, right?

Speaker:

So today I'm gonna talk about the entire process.

Speaker:

I'm gonna walk you through some of the resources that you need, what

Speaker:

type of technology you can use to record your courses, and how you

Speaker:

can promote your courses as well so that you can monetize your course.

Speaker:

So let's get started.

Speaker:

Let's dive right in.

Speaker:

And one of the things that I want to talk about is why would you

Speaker:

even want to have your own course?

Speaker:

And there's a couple of good reasons for that.

Speaker:

Your wisdom is not meant to be bottled up.

Speaker:

It is meant to be shared with the world because there's someone out there that is

Speaker:

yearning for that knowledge that you have.

Speaker:

There's someone out there that needs the help that you can give them, so

Speaker:

don't keep your wisdom bottled up, put it into a course and actually

Speaker:

help others who need your help.

Speaker:

It's a way of giving back.

Speaker:

If you have all this knowledge, but no one knows it, it's not out there in the

Speaker:

world, then you're doing a disservice to everyone out there who needs your

Speaker:

help, because everyone is talented in their own way and in their own niche.

Speaker:

And if you're really good at doing something in your niche, then help

Speaker:

others learn how to do that, help others solve their problems, and that to.

Speaker:

That's kind of the why, cuz I always say whatever you do in life, whether you're

Speaker:

gonna launch your own podcast, whether you're gonna write a book, whether you're

Speaker:

going to, have your course right.

Speaker:

Launch your course.

Speaker:

Like you wanna have a powerful why, because your why is what's

Speaker:

gonna hold everything together.

Speaker:

Your why is what's gonna motivate you day after day after day when you're like,

Speaker:

you know, I've gotta get this course done in two weeks and I'm one weekend.

Speaker:

I'm a little bit behind.

Speaker:

I'm exhausted.

Speaker:

No, you must keep going because let me tell you, there's somebody

Speaker:

out there that needs your course.

Speaker:

There's someone out there that needs that information.

Speaker:

That information is going to unlock their inner genius to help them get to

Speaker:

the next level that they need to be at.

Speaker:

And it's all going to be because of you and your course.

Speaker:

So that's a little pretext in terms of the.

Speaker:

. The other thing is that when you have a course, it is actually a way to

Speaker:

make money even when you're sleeping.

Speaker:

So if you have a course and you learn how to promote it and market it effectively,

Speaker:

which we'll talk about in this episode, you can wake up and you can have

Speaker:

money coming into your bank account because you sold some of your courses.

Speaker:

Now, this course that I'm talking about is not.

Speaker:

A live type of done with you.

Speaker:

This is more so an online course that you're gonna create with videos and people

Speaker:

buy into that course and they get access to all of the curriculum, the information,

Speaker:

any handouts, things like that.

Speaker:

So, In order to prepare and plan for your course, what you want to do is you

Speaker:

really wanna have a good understanding of who your target audience is, because

Speaker:

your course cannot be just for everyone.

Speaker:

You should have a niche topic, and you should have a niche

Speaker:

audience of who your course is for.

Speaker:

So for example, if I were to launch a course on.

Speaker:

effective marketing strategies.

Speaker:

And let's say I did a course, and this was for lawyers let's say, to teach

Speaker:

them how to use, short form video.

Speaker:

example, I could have a course, it could be about how to teach

Speaker:

lawyers how to use short form video.

Speaker:

To get more cases coming into their firm, right?

Speaker:

Or to build their personal brand visibility, as an attorney.

Speaker:

And the goal would be that it's targeted to a niche audience.

Speaker:

It's targeted to attorneys who want to be more present online, who want

Speaker:

to learn how to use social media, who want to build their personal brand, and

Speaker:

they also want to grow their law firm.

Speaker:

So that's an example of nicheing them.

Speaker:

Another example could be, I wanna launch a course on how you can market

Speaker:

and promote your podcast, and how you can get more downloads, how you can,

Speaker:

you know, get more people to subscribe.

Speaker:

All that good stuff.

Speaker:

That could be a separate course, right?

Speaker:

So what you're gonna notice here, , this is like niche.

Speaker:

It's very niche topics.

Speaker:

It's set for a specific type of audience, and this is why it's going

Speaker:

to be relatable to that audience because that's exactly what they want.

Speaker:

When they see it, they're gonna know they're going to want it, but before

Speaker:

we even get that far down the line, they're so important thing things that

Speaker:

you have to do in order to plan for getting your course ready in two weeks.

Speaker:

you wanna obviously pick, you know, what subject and topic it's gonna be about.

Speaker:

Like I said, make it niche and then you wanna sit down, get a notebook

Speaker:

out, create an outline, and create a curriculum for your course.

Speaker:

, right?

Speaker:

you wanna set like a deadline for when you want to have, you know,

Speaker:

your course created and completed.

Speaker:

And this includes filming the videos and, and all that.

Speaker:

So the next thing I wanna talk about is, you know, creating

Speaker:

content for your course.

Speaker:

So you wanna make sure that the content that you're creating is engaging

Speaker:

and it's also relevant to the topic.

Speaker:

I'm gonna share some resources with you on what you can use

Speaker:

to create your course videos.

Speaker:

And some of these I absolutely love.

Speaker:

I have tried using them before and one of the video tools that

Speaker:

I love is called Loom, l o o m.

Speaker:

I will link all of these in the show notes and make sure you check

Speaker:

out the show notes By the way.

Speaker:

, but Loom is a screen recording tool.

Speaker:

So if you're actually getting online and you're demonstrating things of how to do

Speaker:

something, let's say that you're gonna create a course on how to use Canva.

Speaker:

Well, you could use Loom to record your screen and you can show.

Speaker:

How you can create different elements in Canva, different type of

Speaker:

graphics, those can be videos that are going to go into your course.

Speaker:

Some other resources that I also like are Animoto, and that's a video

Speaker:

creation tool that, you know, really helps you get those professional

Speaker:

looking videos so you can, you know, put your own videos in there.

Speaker:

You can also put photos in there, but it just makes 'em look really.

Speaker:

You know, professional, like you paid a ton of money to get those done with

Speaker:

Stia is one of my favorites for courses, and this is because it has very detailed

Speaker:

analytics and it will actually tell you where people watched, like how many

Speaker:

minutes of the course they watched.

Speaker:

Every time they click on something and they're watching a particular video,

Speaker:

you're gonna know and that's gonna be really good cuz that's gonna tell you.

Speaker:

, you know, what videos were most popular?

Speaker:

What did they watch over and over again?

Speaker:

Did they watch it all the way through?

Speaker:

And I also like Vestia because it has their own hosting platform.

Speaker:

So it doesn't, you don't have to like, put it on YouTube and make it private or

Speaker:

have a paid account, things like that.

Speaker:

You can, get a membership to AIA and do that.

Speaker:

But if you wanted to use something, Else, like Vimeo is more preferred

Speaker:

in terms of putting your videos out there for courses versus YouTube, and

Speaker:

it's just the look and feel of it.

Speaker:

And I know that when you have a paid plan, you're able to make the videos

Speaker:

where they're more so private, so they're not showing to everybody.

Speaker:

. Those are some of my favorites.

Speaker:

One more I will mention as well, which I guess it's a little bit

Speaker:

similar , to Loom is Camtasia.

Speaker:

And that really is good for creating high quality course videos.

Speaker:

And again, you can record your screen you can also you know,

Speaker:

do some video editing with that.

Speaker:

And then iMovie.

Speaker:

If you're a person like I am, I'm a Mac girl, then iMovie is great for,

Speaker:

creating videos and editing videos.

Speaker:

And then of course if you are an Adobe user, the Adobe Creative

Speaker:

Cloud Suite is great for for having animation tools and after fact

Speaker:

Premier Pro, all that good stuff.

Speaker:

So those are some of the resources in terms of recording your video.

Speaker:

Then what I wanna talk about next is, you know, make sure that you

Speaker:

don't overcomplicate your course.

Speaker:

Your first course does not have to be 10 different modules with 10 videos each.

Speaker:

You can actually launch a mini course to begin with.

Speaker:

You can price it very cost effectively, and you can get it out there in

Speaker:

the universe so that people can start taking advantage of it.

Speaker:

And once people buy that course, you can always.

Speaker:

, upsell them into a more detailed version of whatever that subject

Speaker:

is, are a different topic.

Speaker:

All right?

Speaker:

Then the other thing you're gonna need to do is you're gonna

Speaker:

need to create a landing page or a sales page for your course.

Speaker:

So there's a couple different ways you can do that.

Speaker:

You can use platforms.

Speaker:

ClickFunnels lead pages.

Speaker:

If you've heard any of those I'll link them in the show notes for you guys.

Speaker:

Or you can use, you know, WordPress as well and you can get a theme

Speaker:

and you can build out you know, build it out that way.

Speaker:

And now, I mean, there's so many different platforms too, where

Speaker:

you can create your own course.

Speaker:

some of the platforms that I'm gonna share with you that are really, really

Speaker:

good and they've been around for a while.

Speaker:

So Cajabi is great and I've heard great things about it from everyone who uses it.

Speaker:

And, you know, you can literally do everything you need to do all in cajabi,

Speaker:

I mean emails course creation and landing pages, gated content, all that.

Speaker:

. The other one that I like is think if, and think if is a

Speaker:

little bit newer than Cajabi.

Speaker:

And you know, it's just a matter of checking out the different

Speaker:

platforms, comparing the pricing, and see what works for, you know, your

Speaker:

needs and what you're looking for.

Speaker:

Another one is Teachable, and then there's Udemy.

Speaker:

There's Skillshare, there's Coursera, there's, there's a bunch of 'em.

Speaker:

And another one that I like for building community, and you can also have your

Speaker:

courses in there, which is very, very modern, is called Mighty Networks.

Speaker:

And I did record a podcast episode about Mighty Networks and my

Speaker:

thoughts on the entire platform.

Speaker:

So I'm gonna link it in the show notes.

Speaker:

You're going to want to make sure that you listen.

Speaker:

To that episode because it's gonna give you the entire lowdown on that.

Speaker:

So the other resource I'm gonna share with you guys, which is great

Speaker:

if you don't wanna be in the videos.

Speaker:

So a lot of times, one thing that I've noticed prevents people

Speaker:

from launching their course.

Speaker:

It is just going through that whole production thing of hair, makeup,

Speaker:

lighting, you know, making the time to actually record and looking camera ready

Speaker:

and you know, having studio lights, all that stuff that needs to be done.

Speaker:

So if you really wanna simplify the process, mean, nowadays

Speaker:

there's so many resources.

Speaker:

So there is a resource.

Speaker:

It is called sinia.io.

Speaker:

I'm gonna link it in the show notes below and it just really cool, cuz what

Speaker:

it does is you can actually pick an AI avatar that's going to take your text

Speaker:

and it's gonna turn it into videos.

Speaker:

and you have over 85 different AI avatars to choose from.

Speaker:

So what's cool about this is if you already have the content, you can

Speaker:

literally take your content, can sign up for this platform and you can say, I

Speaker:

wanna create a course with this avatar.

Speaker:

Here's the content, here's, the topic of this video, I want it to be in English.

Speaker:

I want it to be in Spanish.

Speaker:

The other cool thing about this is you can use this for educational

Speaker:

videos like internally for your business or your law firm.

Speaker:

Just to have educational videos that educate people on the process of

Speaker:

filling out paperwork are different things that they need to do.

Speaker:

How many times you get asked the same question over and over again?

Speaker:

and you're having to spend time answering it when you could

Speaker:

be working on other things.

Speaker:

Well, work smarter, not harder.

Speaker:

That's what I say.

Speaker:

So I'll link this in the share notes as well.

Speaker:

But I think it's pretty, you know, creative and a lot of big

Speaker:

brands have been using it too.

Speaker:

So wanna check it All right, so let's get into, once you've created your

Speaker:

course, right, and you've created your landing page, you've done all that.

Speaker:

You've worked hard on this.

Speaker:

Well, what's next?

Speaker:

Well, next is, you know, you're gonna have to come up with a plan

Speaker:

on marketing and promoting your.

Speaker:

Course, because it's not gonna promote itself, guys, you're

Speaker:

gonna have to like work on that.

Speaker:

So you have to have a strategic game plan on how you're gonna market this course.

Speaker:

So couple of different things you can do is if you already have an email list,

Speaker:

that's gonna be one of the best ways to promote your new course to your network.

Speaker:

And what you can do is you can offer them even like a presale or early.

Speaker:

pricing.

Speaker:

You can say, I'm launching my course in March, and for those of you who

Speaker:

want to get it on presale, you're gonna get it at this introductory price of.

Speaker:

And you can say like, maybe they'll get it for $27, whereas normally it's going

Speaker:

to be 97 when you release it officially to the public and one that makes your

Speaker:

email list feel like they're special because they are getting this offer

Speaker:

that is not being offered to the public.

Speaker:

And build an email list.

Speaker:

Mark it to that email list.

Speaker:

The other thing that you can do, especially if you're

Speaker:

launching a new course and you don't have a huge following, is

Speaker:

you can utilize social media.

Speaker:

One of the ways to utilize social media for free would be to create TikTok videos.

Speaker:

Talking about tips from, you know, the course, maybe sharing a snippet here

Speaker:

and there of something that you talked about in the course, and telling people

Speaker:

that you have this course and putting it in your link on social media,

Speaker:

putting it in Instagram stories, going live on Instagram, things like that.

Speaker:

But what you can also do to speed up that process is you can do some

Speaker:

paid ads on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and that's gonna

Speaker:

be a great way to drive traffic.

Speaker:

And don't forget about Pinterest because Pinterest is great

Speaker:

platform to do some paid ads on.

Speaker:

They're really cost effective and you can reach a lot of people on Pinterest and a

Speaker:

lot of those people are actually looking for, you know, courses and information

Speaker:

and learning how to do different things.

Speaker:

So like if you have a course where you teach people how to have, you

Speaker:

know, their own garden, that they can grow fruit trees or whatever.

Speaker:

There's, you know, Pinterest that's gonna come in handy.

Speaker:

Now that you have a little bit of idea of how you're going to market and promote

Speaker:

your course, what you have to think about now is, how are you going to launch it?

Speaker:

Are you gonna offer a free trial?

Speaker:

How are you gonna provide customer support?

Speaker:

Like, do you have a va?

Speaker:

Are you gonna be able to handle it yourself?

Speaker:

And you also want to.

Speaker:

Create a community in my opinion, for, for the course so that the people that

Speaker:

are in the course can also engage with each other talk about their experience

Speaker:

and maybe even prompt them to share.

Speaker:

Certain things to record a video introducing themself.

Speaker:

And what that's going to do is that's gonna create that community factor.

Speaker:

And when you have a community factor, people are gonna feel more supported

Speaker:

and they're also gonna feel more valued, and that's going to increase

Speaker:

the engagement and the satisfaction level of everyone who is in the course.

Speaker:

The other thing you can do in your course is you can give homework assignments and

Speaker:

you can add quizzes, and you can also create a workbook where you know they

Speaker:

have homework assignments that they're supposed to work on certain things,

Speaker:

and they can fill out this information in a workbook that they can print out.

Speaker:

Or they can fill it out online, but that's gonna help them keep organized on their

Speaker:

progress during the entire course process.

Speaker:

So I hope that you find that useful.

Speaker:

The other thing that you guys need to know about is if you're going to have a course

Speaker:

that's going to launch in two weeks, you are going to have to make a very detail.

Speaker:

and focused outline on what you're going to do every day to get to

Speaker:

that goal, and maybe let's say that.

Speaker:

You're busy on the weekdays.

Speaker:

You've got kids, you've got a full-time gig, and this is a

Speaker:

side thing that you're doing.

Speaker:

Then what I would say is, since you wanna launch this in two weeks,

Speaker:

you're gonna take two weekends.

Speaker:

We're gonna dedicate those weekends to working on your course, and you're gonna

Speaker:

make an outline of what you're gonna work on Saturday and how many hours

Speaker:

you can allocate to working on your.

Speaker:

, and let's say it's three hours and then on Sunday maybe you allocate

Speaker:

another three hours and maybe the first weekend you sit down and you, prepare

Speaker:

the outline, you plan everything.

Speaker:

You set up these platforms that you're gonna use for your course,

Speaker:

and you get access to these things.

Speaker:

Maybe you gather any collateral and, prepare any.

Speaker:

quizzes and things like that, things that you need.

Speaker:

And then maybe the next day on Sunday, those three hours you take to film the

Speaker:

content or, you know, write out the scripts that you need, things like that.

Speaker:

And then the next weekend you, edit what you need to edit.

Speaker:

Or you maybe outsource some of that, maybe get a VA to help you with

Speaker:

the process to speed everything up.

Speaker:

And then you start.

Speaker:

, creating your course in whatever platform that you've chosen to

Speaker:

work with and just putting it all together and piecing it all together.

Speaker:

And then that Sunday you work on marketing and a launch strategy and coming up with

Speaker:

an email to send out to your email list.

Speaker:

there you go.

Speaker:

You can launch a course.

Speaker:

It doesn't have to be an extravagant course.

Speaker:

It can be a mini course in two weeks, as long as you're focused

Speaker:

and you follow these steps.

Speaker:

So I hope you guys got value in this episode, and if you did, don't

Speaker:

forget to leave me a five star review on Apple and leave a detailed note

Speaker:

there and also share this episode.

Speaker:

If you have friends who have been wanting to launch their course are.

Speaker:

You think that they're super talented and they should have their own course

Speaker:

and they should not just bottle their knowledge up, but they should share it

Speaker:

with the world authentically so that they can give back in their own way.

Speaker:

All right, guys.

I will see you on the next one.
